Hi and Welcome to My New Website...it has surely taken some time and a few learning curves along the way. As I write this Our Little Gem (my little shop) has just celebrated 2 years in business. We are about to say good bye to our digs at Ellenborough Street and it wasn't an easy decision to make. I had a bit of a melt down and here is the quick version of events...
As you/may not know I had signed a lease to move two doors up into what was the optometrist. A lovely man who had been in his little office and shop for 53 years..be still my beating heart thinking about that...some of this clients were in their 90's...a few hiccups found that the roof was leaking and so much damage had occurred over the years to a lot of the interior. And even more so on the outside. After much 'discussion' and going back and forth the landlord was certainly not doing his part to make the building habitable let alone maintenance to restore and repair this grand building to its historical stature.
Enough was enough and it was time for me to make a decision. After some shopping around I had to make the decision to leave our beloved Top of Town..we are moving and about to settle in at Newtown. Our new location has a history of its own and is well know to most Ipswich folk. It is the home of the former icon - The Bodega...the famous champagne bottle flowing into the glass...I wonder what happened to that statue and fountain...a thought for another day...for now it houses the lovely Casa Mia Italian restaurant and soon ME and Our Little Gem.
The fit out is being completed as I write and we are beginning the process in the next few days....it is certainly another adventure and I cannot put into words my excitement at the next phase of the journey.
We are not closing and certainly not slowing down...just wait....
I will keep you updated of course...for now we are shutting up at Ellenborough Street tomorrow and taking a few weeks to enjoy the process and even get back to a bit of normality...whatever that is...for me it will mean being able to enjoy a meal with my hubby each night that one of us has cooked....Cooking is a passion for both of us and I can guarantee you that in the last two years we certainly have not been doing anywhere near enough cooking...the belly, the clothes and the scales tell me so....another focus...improve our heath and well being along with our new shop...
so New Me too....I best go otherwise I just will keep typing..much the same as when you see me in person and I just don't stop talking...
